Sending Documents to the Kindle

Posted on August 28, 2008September 3, 2008 by Lori

For a 10 cent fee, you can send documents in the following formats:

  • Microsoft Word (.DOC)
  • Structured HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
  • JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
  • GIF (.GIF)
  • PNG (.PNG)
  • BMP (.BMP)
  • PDF — this is experimental

to yourkindlename@kindle.com. You can also send zipped folders with your documents. With this, your documents will be converted and sent directly to your Kindle (for the fee).

Change your address to yourkindlename@free.kindle.com when you send your documents and you will be able to avoid the charge and get your documents sent via email to your account email you have registered with Amazon.

You must send your files from an approved account that is listed in your “Manage Your Kindle” area. That way — you don’t get anyone you don’t want – sending you files.
