Scavenger Hunt in Second Life

Posted on February 7, 2008 by Lori

Tonight in our class, we had introductions and discussion in the treehouse area.  As the sun went down, we did a “Force Sun” and went on a Scavenger hunt.  Through notecards and teleports, we navigated through some very interesting places.  I found myself very frustrated at the rate of refresh on some areas (the fountain being the worst).  I like the concept, but I have decided that I really need to be on one of the faster computers at work instead of my 3-year-old, overtaxed machine.  I also found it interesting how I could get myself into some terrible places — absolutely stuck — just because I am impatient and kept moving while things were still trying to res.  For some reason, the forest area seemed very easy to move in.  Was it because it was prim-efficient, or maybe not as many avatars were there?  I hope I am able to do the scavenger hunt again tomorrow on a faster machine at work.  I would really like to see if it was me or my machine that was having the bigger problem.  Calling it a night.  End of Line.
